DRYING?
PROTOTYPE
Future research needs to be done to develop a process for drying the desiccant after a defined period of time.

The desiccant gains weight from sitting within the environment when it's working properly, so a drying method needs to be designed and tested. Simply setting the desiccant out to dry on a black surface was ineffective. In the future, working with the electric cooker or dehydrator groups could be a good idea for drying the desiccant for further use.

Now that the overall concept has been proven effective, it needs to be implemented within an affordable and appropriate design.

The prototype should incorporate the calcium chloride inside a permeable layer like we tested, as well as a material that protects the food from rodents. We have developed this sketch of a potential design.

- clay pot and lid

- polypropylene bag

- calcium chloride desiccant

- women's stocking (to hold desiccant)
